Other Quilt Services

Besides providing you with quality materials and instruction so you can create your own projects,  we offer several services you may wish to take advantage of.

Depending on the age and intended use of the quilt in question we will determine the best preservation methods for your treasured quilt.   Diana uses historically accurate materials and techniques whenever possible.   Drawing on her experience,  knowledge and resources she will help you decide the best course of action to preserve, protect and repair the piece in question while staying within a reasonable budget – and then do the work.     Initial consultations are free, and final cost will be estimated at that time.      You are advised to schedule consultation, but walk ins are also welcome.

We also adopt old worn quilts and other sewing related items.   Their educational value continues even after they are no longer in repairable condition.    Many of the donated fabrics help create charity quilts and pillowcases that are sent to those in need.    Within a week of Hurricane Sandy we had a dozen twin size or bigger quilts to share with those in need thanks to those donations and some talented and generous quilters.

We will custom make a baby quilt in our basic four patch pattern.   Tell us a theme or color combination and we will do the rest.   $150-$250  depending on details.

We can work with you to create the perfect keepsake pillow, wall hanging or fiber based book to commemorate a special event or person.     Below is a before and after of a “Grandma’s Dress”  wall hanging.     The poppy fabric in the purple and orange one was a skirt.    We can also do pillows from “Grandpas Ties”.

We can translate photos,  invitations, certificates,  programs,  and other paper goods to fabric and even use jewelry  and other small items  in addition to clothing to make a one of a kind personal remembrance.      Pet portraits,  birth and wedding announcements and graduations are just some of the events that can be celebrated in cloth.     Make an appointment to consult with Diana and bring any materials that you would like us to incorporate.

We can use your family’s to shirt collections to make a memory quilt.    When you come in for consultation bring the shirts.
